The Sowing Seed sculpture embodies themes of migration, legacy, identity, and cultural integration. By exploring the journey of African migrants into the UK, particularly in cities like London, the sculptures question the evolving nature of cultural identity and the balance between heritage and assimilation. This tension between belonging and otherness is a critical component of the migrant experience.
The metaphors represented in the sculptures will evoke a narrative of cultural planting, growth, and hybridisation.
