Sowing Seed

The Sowing Seed sculpture embodies themes of migration, legacy, identity, and cultural integration. By exploring the journey of African migrants into the UK, particularly in cities like London, the sculptures question the evolving nature of cultural identity and the balance between heritage and assimilation. This tension between belonging and otherness is a critical component of the migrant experience.

The metaphors represented in the sculptures will evoke a narrative of cultural planting, growth, and hybridisation. The series does not merely focus on the physical migration but also on the cultural seeds that migrants sow in new territories. These seeds, once sown, bloom into hybrid cultures that are neither fully African nor fully British or other foreign nationalities.
